Bio

Giuseppe Bernardino Bison was the last of the great Venetian view painters working in the tradition begun by Luca Carlevarijs a century earlier. He began his carrer as a painter in the studio of Giandomenico Tiepolo, but it was not long before he manifested a preference for view painting, paying particular regard to the work of Antonio Canaletto and Francesco Guardi (the former would have been known to him primarily from engravings).
