An Allegory of Summer: a Girl holding Peaches
(Rosalba Carriera)

Description

Like most of Rosalba’s ‘allegories’ the allegorical guise in the picture is a very thin excuse to show a pretty girl in an inviting pose which prefigures – albeit with greater restraint – Greuze’s professional innocents.
