Bio

Following in the footsteps of his father and teacher, Claude-Marie Dubufe, Edouard Dubufe was a highly successful portrait artist who also turned his talents to the production of the occasional historical and subject painting. In addition to his father’s instruction, Dubufe fils studied under the direction of the great Romantic painter Paul Delaroche. However, it was Ingres’s canvases that so forcefully shaped the production of Dubufe’s generation of artists.
