featuring just this one artist. This Illinois artist was one of most prolific
in the United States. This featured artist produced over 1,250 canvases during
this artistic career. This artist was discovered by the Illinois State Museum
after a major newspaper article ran in the Chicago Tribune. The Illinois State
Museum’s staff documented, organized and presented an excellent exhibition
of Sullins' work for touring the United States. The ISM also published a beautiful
color catalogue of this artists paintings. Beginning in 1988, a major solo
exhibition traveled to Museum locations in the Midwest. Sullins' solo exhibition
was shown in Paris, France, at the prestigious Seita Museum in November of
1989. The works of this featured artist are very unique. One of the features
that make this fine art so great for collecting is his mastering of many styles
and techniques. This is extremely uncommon with most artists. Sullins was
a self-taught artist and has developed a unique style of his very own. Not
the style of a self-taught, but more like the style of modern art or contemporary
art. This artist studied art history and pays tribute to many famous artists
like, Picasso, Calder Rodin, Chagall, Moore and Matisse on his canvases. By
including their images in his work along with his own set of personal symbols,
as shown in Painting # 898 "Picasso # 3, Painting # 703 "Calder Versus Michelangelo",
Painting # 1174 "Miss Chicago Resembles Mattisse's Large Bather Sixth from
Right" and Painting # 410 "Marc Chagall Visits Island of La Grande Jatze".

series of paintings, while others appear more often throughout his collection.
In some paintings this artist combines both his personal and sometimes his
stylistic images from artists of the past and utilizes them in unexpected
ways in order to produce his own unique compositions. Maurice always believed
and said, that this is what "art history" is all about -- to study what the
artists of the past had accomplished and then develop and progress to your
