CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS
The London gallery maintains client relationships with museums and with private collectors. and have sold have sold paintings to many of the greatest museums in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan.
Many collectors have strong relationships themselves with local museums, as donors or lenders, and often are able to draw on the advice of the curatorial staff of the museum.
The gallery has also acted as agent for several of these institutions in acquiring works at auction. A complete listing of the museum clients of the galleries is given here, with links to many of their web sites. The listing of Museums will include images of many of the works acquired by each.
The relationship with some private clients goes back to the foundation of the gallery, with clients offering works back through the galleries that they acquired many years earlier.
Since the range of works of art in which the galleries specialize extends over a long time period - almost six hundred years - the clients encompass a broad range of collecting interests. Some clients have discovered the galleryon their own, while others have made their first contact at international fine art fairs (such as
TEFAF,
or the
International
Fine Art Fair in New York.
Many clients employ private art consultant as advisers and the gallery has built relationships with such advisers that in some cases go back twenty years or more. Other clients consult with their local museums and the advice they get from the individual curator can be invaluable. Museums often assist collectors in the hope of receiving future gifts but many curators are please to encourage all new collectors.
